I’ve had all the versions of both the flyknit metcons AND the regular metcons. This is definitely the best flyknit metcon yet. I didn’t like the 2’s because my heel kept slipping out when doing sprints and pushing a sled. But these are a lot more secure and locked in.Since having these shoes for a couplemonths now, I’ve deadlifted up to 405 (but if given the option I would switch to a regular metcon after 315) and cleaned 225 in these shoes…. anything more than a 225 clean and jerk maybe even a 185 I would definitely switch to a regular metcon. The soles are definitely more comfortable to wear for longer durations and just walk around and run errands in. But of course, at a cost, as the soles give and compress under heavier lifts. I’m a trainer, and I wear these to coach all day in and do light training in… and all heavier training is done in regular metcons.

I figured out most people’s gripes regarding this shoe. The general fit and style is terrific but the Metcon insole is 4 times thicker than other Nike insoles. Therefore most people feel that this shoe is very tight around the top of the foot (including myself) since the giant insole is pushing your feet up. A simple swap of insoles may solve the tightness issue but your regular Nike insole may be too thin, thereby rendering the shoe now too loose.
